About CTL

Welcome to the official website for Crossing the Line with M. William Phelps, the hit true crime weekly podcast, produced by Catherine Law, executive produced, created and hosted by Phelps, in partnership with iHeartRadio Podcast Network. Phelps raises the true crime weekly podcast bar on Crossing the Line, pushing buttons, crossing boundaries, holding people accountable. “If you are a scumbag, I am going to call you a scumbag …” Phelps says. “If you are a murderer, I am coming at you with everything I have.”

The missing and the murdered need an advocate, a voice. Phelps is that bullhorn, promoting crime victim’s advocacy and helping the marginalized be heard. “There are families out there suffering; they need—and deserve—justice, and to be recognized and heard … it doesn’t matter who they are, where they’re from, the life they’ve led. What matters is having their stories told so people can understand what they go through and, in some cases, maybe even help.”

Think all things true crime—from an insider’s perspective. Brought to you by the team behind the #1 true-crime podcast franchise Paper Ghosts, Crossing the Line with M. William Phelps is a weekly podcast diving deeply into murder, missing people and unsolved, cold case cases rarely covered. Beyond straight-up murder stories, investigative journalist and host M. William Phelps interviews experts, victims’ family members, the killers themselves, and the detectives working the cases. Phelps connects profoundly with families of the missing, murdered, and cold cases, not just because he understands them, but because he is one of them.

Focused on the missing, murdered, and marginalized, Crossing the Line changes the game in the weekly true crime podcast space, pushing it to the next level. With unprecedented access to cases and those involved, along with 20 years’ worth of true crime experience, Phelps—who pulls back the curtain on his own life and personality—has a unique, exclusive, and unparalleled perspective to share with listeners, unraveling not only exclusive information but the intricacies of the crimes/criminals and societal structures making them what they are.

M. William Phelps is the New York Times best-selling author of 45 nonfiction books and winner of the Excellence in (Investigative) Journalism Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. Phelps has written for numerous publications, including the Providence Journal, Connecticut Magazine and Hartford Courant.
